Description
Shirvan is located just to the south of the Caucasus mountain range and is to the east of Gendje. The area rugs woven in the Shirvan district are finely knotted and sophisticated. Rugs have a profoundly satisfying balance and symmetry. Shirvan rugs have wool warps, but cotton wefts, the Turkish knot and detailed and complex patterns. Tonalities may be primary or more muted.
